Installed in the building of the Compagnie Générale Maritime Transatlantique, the Toïa restaurant bears the name of a boat of this company and introduces us to ceviches, specialties from South America, as well as Mediterranean-inspired dishes, for 15 -20€.
Ceviches are cooked from fish according to the catch and marinated in a broth made from lime, coriander, red onion and fish stock. They are accompanied by a seasonal salad and sweet potato fries.
Toïa's decoration is bathed in warm colors like the orange back wall, the metal structures of the chairs, the woodwork of the benches and tables and the wicker of the plant wall suspensions. A huge central bar also makes the restaurant friendly and invites people to meet.
I chose to taste the Toïa ceviche with its cashew nuts which add the crunch that ceviche sometimes lacks and the very creamy peanut mousse in the mouth. I also tried the citrus ceviche with its delicious lemony coconut broth. The tastes are sought after and very well executed. The sides of sweet potatoes and coleslaw are also very well prepared.
Toïa also offers a brunch of 6 savory and sweet mezzes on Sundays, with homemade lemonades and iced teas, for €26. The restaurant can also be privatized for special or professional events.
