The Casertane

In the Opéra district of Marseille, La Casertane is an Italian restaurant, which also serves as a caterer and delicatessen off-duty. Personally, it's the place where I buy all the products I need to cook Italian: San Daniele ham, guanciale, pesto, dried tomatoes, grilled eggplant, burrata and mozzarella di bufala, pepper pecorino, coppa, limoncello , amaretto, ... the list is long.

I tested La Casertane for lunch, with Arnaud's service, always smiling and pleasant. I was able to taste the Italian plate (charcuterie, cheese and antipasti) in the photo above and the mezzo-mezzo plate (charcuterie and cheese) in the photo below. The restaurant also offers hot dishes such as gnocchi with gorgonzola, vongole spaghetti or even lasagna. For dessert, we find the coffee tiramisu (photo below), a chocolate mousse and its amaretto caramel or a chocolate fondant. The products are 95% imported from Italy, the rest is homemade on site.

La Casertane's menu is very good in terms of value for money, cold dishes vary between €13 and €18, main courses are around €22. Desserts are €7.50. The terrace is very pleasant, especially in summer under the parasols. In winter, the interior room is warm.

No need for a reservation for this restaurant, I advise you to aim for the beginning and end of service to avoid waiting.
