The Caribou

Located on Place Thiars in the heart of Marseille, the Caribou, which looks like a mountain chalet, is the perfect place to share good times. A modern lunch menu and plates to share (or not) and cocktails in the evening.

I personally only went there in the evening in summer, when the sun is down, it is very pleasant to taste their original cocktails and their bistronomic tapas. I tested their non-alcoholic cocktail "Un air de déjà bu" with in particular homemade white chocolate syrup, almond milk and pear juice, as well as their incredibly good "Pina Colada" cocktail with coconut milk clarified (pictured below).

I advise you to try the lacquered pork ribs, cooked at low temperature and flavored with peanuts and mint. For seafood lovers, their grilled octopus is delicious, smoked a la plancha and served with a chimichurri sauce (mixture of herbs, olive oil, lemon). Le Caribou also offers a few side dishes such as panisses with a smoked paprika yoghurt sauce or a roasted sweet potato flavored with grapefruit, yuzu, almonds and cranberry.

Below the big stracciatella served with pesto and balsamic, and a sweet labneh with almond, hazelnut and jam.

For the summer 2023, the Caribou proposes a new set of cocktails, on the theme of travel. The menu is presented like a boarding pass with several locations, one cocktail for one country, with flavor specialities inside. I tested the "Greece", the "Armenia", the "Mexico" and my favorite, the "Scotland", served in a small cup of tea.

I advise you to book a table, this address is very popular in Marseille, especially on summer evenings.
