Sepia

Sépia is a restaurant with an exceptional view of Marseille. Hidden under the pines of the Puget garden, chef Paul Langlère and his team offer bistronomic cuisine, with a strong emphasis on fish. Indeed, the name of the restaurant is evocative, Sepia is the ink produced by the cuttlefish.

I went there for dinner, the starter/main course/dessert menu is €53. The interior room is very convivial, a sober decoration with wooden tables and touches of black, and beautiful bay windows letting in the last rays of sunshine of the day.

In the kitchen, there are between 5 and 7 active people preparing beautiful, creative dishes for us. I tasted amberjack as a starter, a white fish served raw in tomato water flavored with purslane. The appetizer menu also offered fried bread topped with a homemade tomato sauce and a very tender and delicious land and sea kefta, as well as eggplant caviar.

For the main course, I opted for a rack of veal cooked at low temperature for 4 hours, served with stuffed aubergine, spring onions and a strong meat jus. The chef also offers a seafood option, that evening with amberjack and peppers marinated in garlic oil, and a vegetarian dish by working with vegetables and Mediterranean flavors.

I must admit that I was very pleasantly surprised by the desserts. On one side, a bitter orange sauce, a chocolate cream lightly flavored with coffee, a chocolate puff pastry tuile and a bay sorbet. On the other side, a raspberry and pistachio tartlet and a rosemary sorbet. Delicious to end on such a successful and gourmet note!!

Do not hesitate to book your table in advance, it is often full 4-5 days in advance.
