Papa Fredo is the first restaurant in Marseille certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. The pizzas come out of the traditional wood oven at the back of the restaurant. They are made with 00 flour, without oil and their texture is soft and slightly crispy.
The products are fresh and straight from Italy. The crockery is found in Italian junk shops, the interior room of the restaurant gives a certain atmosphere of conviviality like at home.
Papa Fredo is open every evening and for lunch and dinner on weekends. I tasted their brunch on Sunday, in the form of a buffet for 32€ per person. For the savory, we find Italian specialties with, for example, Neapolitan margherita pizza, Italian charcuterie, truffle gnocchi (delicious!!), pasta salads with pesto and dried tomatoes,...
The brunch also offers hot and cold drinks, I particularly liked their lemonade flavored with orange blossom water.
For dessert, an assortment of many appetizing pastries are served on the bar counter. I loved the raspberry-pistachio tart, the French toast, the mirabelle plum tart and the hazelnut brownie.
As soon as the sun comes out the terrace is very pleasant, do not hesitate to ask for a table in the sun in the comments when booking online.
For dinner or for brunch, this restaurant in the heart of Cours Julien is very pleasant, the meals are well served and of very good quality. In winter, the restaurant also has a second very pretty room in the basement.
