In a bucolic and intimate atmosphere, the Jardin Montgrand offers a carefully hidden corner of downtown Marseille where the trees naturally absorb the noise of the street. Guided by the rhythm of the seasons, the menu varies each month and offers compositions with daring and gourmet combinations.
The Montgrand garden is part of the Boutique-Hotel la Maison Montgrand. The patio is very pleasant, it feels like being on the terrace in the garden with the family. The waiters and the bartender are very pleasant and happy to welcome us to their haven of peace. I went there for dinner, to discover the conductor menu starter/main course/dessert at 42€. The restaurant also offers a starter/fish dish/meat dish/cheese/dessert menu at €52. At noon, a slate composed of 3 unique dishes, a meat, a fish and a vegetarian plate, with which you can compose a main dish , dessert at 25€.
I started the concert with a crunchy poached egg, a mushroom foam and a meurette sauce. The menu also offered a variation of watermelon and strawberry, served with sea bream ceviche with hibiscus flower. For the main course, the sirloin with sweet spices served with apricots and a beef jus with honey and rosemary was exquisite. On the fish side, the chef offered hake and chilli gnocchi, served with broccoli and tamarind Hollandaise emulsion.
To end the dance, I tested the deconstructed nectarine verbena cheesecake, the combination works very well and remains very light, especially on a summer evening. The chef also offered a tonka bean crème brûlée with cherries marinated in lime and rum sorbet and lemon gel.
The little extra of the restaurant? A petanque court and an outdoor bar to bring the chill side to the class of the place. Balls available, a pastis and hop on the ground between each dish to transform the short wait into a friendly moment with friends or family.
Don't hesitate to book, this spot is very popular with pure-bred Marseillais.
