Libala

Hugues and Mathilde created in October 2021 Libala, a place for lunch, snacks and hydration in the heart of Marseille and open to the world. I went there for lunch to discover the menu offered by the Congolese chef, Hugues Mbenda. Libala in Lingala, one of the official languages of the Democratic Republic of Congo, means marriage.

If you want to have a quick lunch while traveling and eating good products, don't hesitate to check it out.

Hugues and Mathilde have also created a range of beneficial and thirst-quenching juices and infusions based on memories of their childhood in Africa, the trips that marked them and ingredients that grow in the South of France. They offer a mint bissap, two ginger/pineapple and lemon/rosemary infusions and a baobab juice.

I tasted the crispy chicken with a mango chili sauce, and their house infusion of the moment, a mixture of lemon verbena and mint. The price-quality ratio is very correct, count around €15 for a dish and €4 for an infusion or juice.

The lunch menu also offers a delicious burger with African flavors, served with plantains.

The room immerses us in a forest with the vegetated ceiling, the wood-green tones and the dark green walls.

Open every lunchtime except Sunday
