The Italian restaurant Ciel is a unique place in the heart of downtown Marseille, a rooftop perched on one of the tallest buildings in the city (the former Galeries Lafayette). This roof terrace dominates the city with a 180 degree view of the entrance to the Old Port, the basilica called "Bonne Mère" by people of Marseille, the Palais du Pharo and the Palais Longchamps.
To access the rooftop, you will need to find the hidden elevator at 17 rue Haxo, at the end of a rough corridor decorated by blue statues hanging from swings suspended from the ceiling. Hop, head for the 7th floor to access 7th heaven!
Ciel is both an Italian restaurant offering simple seasonal cuisine and an ideal bar to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the city... You can have lunch on the terrace and admire the city, have a drink there (the cocktails are very good!!) or enjoy some antipasti for dinner while enjoying the sunset.
At the helm of the kitchens, the Italian chef Sandra Gatti, for example, offers her signature dish of rock octopus tentacles on the menu, but also a creamy Burrata from Puglia, a cold cherry tomato soup, or even a T-Veal bone, candied vegetables, baked new potatoes. Finally, Italian desserts are on the menu with pistachio panna cotta, raspberry compote, caramelized pistachios and many other delicacies...
Warning, in summer the restaurant is VERY popular!! I recommend booking 3 to 4 weeks in advance via their website.
Address : 17 Rue Haxo, 13001 Marseille
